Thorpe shares what bought him to China and how he founded the Inkwell, a literary collective that holds creative writing workshops in China. In addition to this Thorpe\u00a0 is the director of the writing program at the University of Michigan-Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute and he also teaches humanities and writing courses. Thorpe has a dual focus PhD from Oklahoma State University in creative writing and TESOL, he has\u00a0 written columns for <em>The Global Times<\/em>, <em>China Daily<\/em>, and <em>\u7b2c\u516d\u58f0<\/em>, and has published in numerous literary journals. His first scholarly book, <em>\u6559\u5b66\u7b2c\u4e8c\u8bed\u8a00\u521b\u610f\u5199\u4f5c <\/em>was published in December of 2021, Routledge.
