They are co-founders of Mindset and you can read their thoughts via the Mindset Blog on WeChat.<\/p>\n Screenwriting: Creating Characters<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n The 1st of 12 classes<\/p>\n Sunday, April 24<\/p>\n 7:00-9:00 PM<\/p>\n Great stories begin with great characters. In this class we\u2019ll learn new and old techniques for creating characters consciously, rather than accidentally.<\/p>\n \u2022 4 types of protagonists (hero, average, underdog, antihero)<\/p>\n \u2022 4 types of antagonists (evil, everyday, systemic, self)<\/p>\n \u2022 4 character temperaments (sanguine, choleric, melancholic, phlegmatic)<\/p>\n \u2022 4 dimensions of character (physical, social, psychological, semiotic)<\/p>\n Class is presented with slides and examples and includes a free workbook.<\/p>\n Host bio<\/span>: Peter Walters teaches screenwriting at Beijing Film Academy. His latest feature, UNSPOKEN, a Chinese-US-Canadian co-production, co-written and directed by Chen Daming, stars Zhang Hanyu and Michael Cudlitz.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n TO REGISTER:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Beijing events can be found at inkwell.asia\/beijing or clicking on the events tab of inkwell.asia.<\/p>\n At the bottom of the event page you will be prompted to create an account in order to book a ticket. You do need to create an account\u00a0for the website before you can register.\u00a0Once you create an account, you can book one ticket per person. Please note that events are limited to 15 tickets and are on a first come, first serve basis. Bookings are manually confirmed by the administrator. Only after receiving the confirmation email, is the booking complete.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n 1. Booking does not ensure a spot, only the confirmed booking email does.<\/p>\n 3. Due to ticket limitations, confirmed participants are expected to attend.<\/p>\n 4. In the event that one cannot attend, kindly cancel the booking by revisiting the link above and clicking \u2018manage bookings\u2019<\/p>\n 5. For last minute cancellations, it is also suggested that one inform the group that a spot has become available so someone else can take that space.<\/p>\n 6. Those who are \u2018no shows\u2019 without any prior notice will be barred from registering for the next event.<\/p>\n 7. Seeing is an effortless, reflexive activity. If you ask someone to \u2018take a look\u2019, the time and effort required is minimal. This is not the case with writing, which requires careful and often tiring thought.<\/p>\n
This workshop will demonstrate how seeing and writing are, in fact, closely related. We will practice the process of making observations and drawing inferences of everyday objects, familiar places, and people. By acknowledging the acts of visual perception that we preform every day, we can become more aware of this very powerful and highly developed skill.
