About Inkwell

Inkwell is a creative organization dedicated to mentoring and connecting writers from around the world. Founded in 2015 by Dr. Ryan Thorpe and based out of Shanghai, Inkwell helps creative writers of all levels sharpen their skills.

Since its start, Inkwell has grown across China to start numerous workshops where writers are both challenged and supported to hone their craft. Inkwell offers workshops in fiction, reading, nonfiction, poetry, screenwriting, and translation as well as hosts an annual writing retreat to bring together writers from across China. It also releases work through its literary journal, Visions, to help support new creative writing voices and helps youth writers though its youth zine, PVLSE. Inkwell offers free reading and writing opportunities for both Chinese locals and expats at all levels of experience to foster a new generation of creative talent in China.
